5th place World Champs 2015
Well it has been a day or two since my last web site update. I was going to just post to the usual Instagram/Twitter but I figured it might end up a little long so back to the old blog I go!
First off, check out the rest of the page for some new(er) photos and videos, you have to scroll through the gallery, but there are some good shots in there!
Well, 5th isn’t exactly what I was hoping for in Kreischberg, another big event and another finish just off the podium…$%*&
It was a tough race day, the course was really easy, and the start was tricky but not that hard. It made for some really tight first turns were a foot or two was a huge lead. I did not have the start dialled, didn’t all week long, but I battled hard and gave my self a great chance at an amazing result.
I am really proud and happy with the way I skied. I made some great passes, and was on the happy side of two photo finishes to get through to the semi finals. It very easily could have been a short day.
All in all I am happy with my performance and happy with 5th place, but disappointed to have missed a medal. The guys who won skied great and deserve a big congrats on their strong showing!
Unfortunately, it was an all around lousy day for our team. Both of our girls went down with injury, I have no doubt that Marielle and Georgia will be back, but we will miss them for the rest of the season! The lives of the rest of the girls on the Ski Cross World Cup just got a whole lot easier not having to compete against those two for the rest of the year! I wish them both the best in their recovery!
For the survivors, its time for a few days of and a bit of training before we begin the madness that is to be 3 back to back double races. Yes, that is to say we will have 6 races in the space of 3 weeks. Its going to be important to stay healthy and strong so that I can make a run for the overall World Cup.
I know I am skiing very strong and I know there are more great results to come. The mens field is absolutely stacked right now and I am really looking forward to some more hard races in the coming weeks!
I will do my best to keep the updates a little more frequent!
Thanks for reading!
