Home for the Holidays
After a whirlwind month of December I arrived back in Cow Town on the 24th just in time to enjoy Christmas with my family. Its always nice to see my Uncles and Cousins and tell them all the stories from the latest ski adventures and of course eat way too much food.
It was very nice not to be jumping on a plane on New Years Day this year as we usually do. I was able to ring in the New Year with a great group of friends, most of whom I have known since elementary school days.
We don’t leave for the France World Cups until the 6th so until then I plan on just getting back into the gym and making sure I am taking care of my body, doing what I need to keep myself healthy and skiing fast through the rest of this long season. I’ll also be testing out some of the new hockey gear I got over the holidays and trying to bring my hockey skills up above the pee-wee level!
Next up are back to back races in France. The first stop is Les Contamines, a main stay on the SX World Cup for over 10 years now the track is traditionally very hard, some technically challenging turns and not a lot of air time to deal with. This year they have moved it over to a different run to change things up which is cool. Then its over to Megeve, a new stop on the tour. Haven’t really heard anything about what the track will look like, I’ll spend some time scouring the web trying to see some videos of the Europa cup’s they have had there over the years.
I have high hopes for the upcoming trip, I was really happy with my skiing at the beginning of the year, and I hope to keep it rolling. I’ll be focusing on my quali runs in the technical courses, trying to give myself an easier day by being able to pick my gate as long as possible. Goal for the trip is two podiums! Sights are set high, its going to be tough but I am excited to keep on racing!
