Five Canadians advance at Audi FIS Nakiska Ski Cross World Cup
NAKISKA, ALTA. (Dec. 7, 2012) — Five Canadians advanced to Saturday’s heats at the inaugural Audi FIS Nakiska Ski Cross World Cup after a thrilling qualification round on Friday saw a host of big names eliminated.
Brady Leman, of Calgary, Alta. – ranked No. 2 in the world in men’s ski cross – will be joined in Saturday’s round of 32 by newcomers Louis-Pierre Hélie, of Berthierville, Que., and Ian Deans, of Kelowna, B.C. With the track speeding up as the day went on, veteran Dave Duncan and World Cup winner Tristan Tafel, of Canmore, Alta., did not make the cut – but they were in good company as reigning overall World Cup champion Filip Flisar, of Slovenia, was among the others missing out.
